Autism Paraprofessional Training (APT1)


Description
This course was created in response to Virginia House Bill 325 which requires specific training for aides that work with teachers who provide education to students with Autism. This course meets the requirements set forth in VDOE's Training Standards for Paraprofessionals Assigned to Work with a Teacher Who Has Primary Oversight of Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This course is designed to aid in creating an effective educational team in preschools as well as public and private schools. Effective teaching increases the learning of students with ASD.

This training consists of the following modules:
-Autism 101
-Comprehensive Instructional Programming
-Environmental Structures/Visual Supports
-Communication
-Social Skills
-Interfering Behavior

This course takes approximately 2.5-3 hours to complete, 30 mins per module.
